The City of Buena Vista has merged its economic development and planning departments, and has hired Buena Vista native Kristina Ramsey as the new Economic Development and Marketing Coordinator.
After the departure of former Director of Economic Development, Rachel Moore, in June of this year, economic development joined planning, zoning, and building inspections to form the Department of Community and Economic Development. Tom Roberts, who has been Director of Planning and Community Development since 2017, will lead the combined department as the newly titled Director of Community and Economic Development.
“Rachel laid a fantastic groundwork for moving the City forward, including the grant application for our Connect BV downtown revitalization planning project launching this fall,” Roberts explained. “I am thrilled to bring Kristina on board to keep the momentum going and to increase awareness of the awesome things happening in BV!”
Ramsey, who will complete her Bachelor’s from Mary Baldwin University in 2020, most recently worked at Hampton Inn Col Alto as Director of Sales & Marketing. An avid hiker and kayaker, she was raised in Buena Vista and graduated from Parry McCluer High School. She will start in early September.
